Meet our professors
Studio 671 Jiu Jitsu is proudly owned and led by IBJJF-certified Black Belts, Professor Carlos “Charlie” Quitugua and Professor Myrna Quitugua. Bringing more than a decade of experience, discipline, and a whole lot of heart to the mats
Both Professor Charlie and Professor Myrna began their martial arts journeys under Professor Rexie Barnum at Alliance BJJ Hawaii—with Charlie starting in 1998 during his career in law enforcement, and Myrna joining him on the mats in 2012. After relocating to Idaho in 2021, they continued their dedication to the art, ultimately earning their black belts together from Professors Sam and Melissa Campanella at 208 Jiu Jitsu Academy.
Today, they bring a powerful balance to Studio 671, helping individuals and families grow together. Charlie’s background as a retired federal law enforcement officer drives a calm, structured focus on self-defense and technical fundamentals. Myrna pairs this with a deep passion for inclusive student development, ensuring a supportive space where special needs and neurodiverse individuals truly thrive.
For the Quitugua family, Jiu-Jitsu is a shared lifestyle—their own children have trained with them since 2012, shaping the family-oriented culture at Studio 671. Together, Charlie and Myrna are committed to building a tight-knit community focused on personal development. By prioritizing strong basics, they empower students of all backgrounds to build confidence and resilience—both on and off the mats.
Driven by excellence
Studio 671 Jiu Jitsu was built on the belief that jiu jitsu changes lives—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Founded by Professors Charlie and Myrna Quitugua, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts with over 15 years of experience, our academy is a welcoming space where people come to train with purpose, build confidence, and grow together.
We offer a structured, technique-focused curriculum that meets students where they are. Whether you’re brand new or highly experienced, our coaching emphasizes clear instruction, steady progression, and hands-on support. At Studio 671, you’re not just learning jiu jitsu—you’re joining a community committed to growth on and off the mats.
At Studio 671, our culture is built on four core values:
respect, integrity, community, and perseverance.
These values guide how we teach, how we train, and how we show up for one another. We are committed to an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and welcome—no matter their age, background, or ability.
Studio 671 is more than a place to train. It’s a place to build resilience, strengthen your mindset, and grow alongside a community that moves forward together. Whether your goal is personal growth, competition, wellness, or self-defense, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
